James Shaw, Configuration Services Manager, has a very extensive history with computers. He started with the PLATO system at the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana in 1978, then programmed BASIC and FORTRAN in high school with punch cards and moved up to PASCAL, C, and Z80 assembly language in college. After that, he worked at a computer store in Urbana for nearly five years configuring new and used PCs. His career training in computer configuration allowed him to work on everything from Commodore 64 to Amiga, Apple II to Macintosh, and IBM PC to PS/2. This extensive knowledge propelled him to a position as a field service engineer for IBM where he provided service for the entire central Illinois region. His next stop was with ELEK-TEK, a major computer retailer in the midwest. There he assisted the company with the integration of a new network and networking services department. MicroAge, River North in Chicago, was lucky enough to have him for two years as he supported existing computer networks and system rollouts for major corporations like Ameritech and First Options. His long time relationship with Joshua Tabin brought him to Tabin Technology in 1998. He provides our clientele with the best technical support in the business and configures the most reliable and efficient systems in the industry. His hobbies are servers, PCs and computer software. He lives and breathes computers and is a great asset to our company and our customers.
